Eagle Scout, Ben Voth, received an award from the California Turtle & Tortoise Club Valley Chapter at their June 21, 2019 meeting. "Eagle Scout" is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. One of the requirements necessary to achieve this rank is "an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages."* For his project — which he completed in 2018 — Ben chose to manage and install the tortoise and turtle holding enclosure at the Los Angeles County Animal Care Center in Agoura Hills.

"Thanks to Ben's management skills and hard work, we are thankful that the Agoura Hills facility has the most advanced chelonian holding compound in the county, if not in the entire state," wrote the CTTC Valley Chapter Team in a June 17th e-mail. "We will be honoring him for both his partnership project and for his attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout."
