Albert the Tortoise is now the UK ambassador for the Valley Chapter of the California Turtle and Tortoise Club (CTTC). Chapter members voted to make him their ambassador after Ian Brown — his owner and the author of his picture book series — took the Sofa Cushion Challenge to raise funds for the chapter’s Sick & Injured Tortoise Fund.
In addition to bestowing upon Albert the title of Ambassador, the chapter also gave Ian Brown a membership to the CTTC.
There has since begun all sorts of reciprocal work. The CTTC and Sofa Cushion Challenge logos now appear in the footer of every page of the official Albert the Tortoise Website. A CTTC-Valley Chapter member made an “Albert the Tortoise” presentation at their most recent meeting. Additionally, Ian has offered to donate a signed copy of one of the Albert the Tortoise books to the CTTC-Valley for use in either an auction or as the prize for a contest.
Book #1 from the series, ALBERT UPSIDE DOWN, has been short-listed for the 2022 Bishop’s Stortford Picture Book Award. That, plus book #2, ALBERT AND THE WIND are available for purchase on-line as well as in bookshops all across the UK.
