The CTTC Valley Chapter released the following information on April 12, 2021 re: their Friday, April 16, 2021 meeting via Zoom at 7:00 PM PDT.

With many tortoise species on the decline, it is comforting to know that with an involved team in place at Joshua Tree National Park, things are turning around! Michael Vamstad, a lead ecologist and biologist with the National Park Service, has been involved with coming up with workable solutions to some of the problems that are facing the wildlife, particularly desert tortoises, in Joshua Tree National Park. We are pleased this month to have him share their program with us.

In his presentation, he will illustrate some of the problems and challenges facing their local wildlife, and particularly, the desert tortoise. Michael will then show the solutions he and his team have come up with. It is good to know that during these troubling times there are terrific things happening! For an interesting evening with excellent visuals, join us this Friday evening.
